Explain why you are interested in this position:

Since coming to St. Olaf, I have realized how much I want to be a part of everything going on. From athletic events, to Christmas Fest, to different club events, I really have an appreciation for everything that St. Olaf has to offer in terms of student life. Being the student life senator would mean that I get to represent all of it! When we went around the table each week at Senate meetings and gave reports on our constituents, I always took an interest in the reports of the current Student Life Senator. I am also interested in learning more about residence life, college policies, financial aid, and everything that comes with being the Student Life Senator. I had the time of my life on senate this past year and I would so enjoy another year learning about the in-and-outs of St. Olaf leadership. I loved being a part of hall council this past year and all the fun things that go along with that, though I am excited for a new challenge next year. I am so ready to become an advocate for the wider St. Olaf community in the coming years, and this feels like the perfect opportunity for Oles to see me take on a bigger role in all things SGA.

What qualifications do you bring to this position?

I have spent the past year on senate and as the year has progressed I have become more and more interested in asking questions at each meeting and finding out more about the weekly topics. I think I have really come into the senator role this year and I am ready to have less of a learning curve next fall. I am the current chair of the Projects and Capital Fund Senate subcommittee, I am on Hill-Kitt’s hall council, and I am also in SOC. I have over 4 SGA meetings each week and I am very ready to balance different aspects of the Student Life Senator job, from meetings with the Student Life committee, senate, subcommittee meetings, and hopefully SOC once again. I have been a part of student government since 4th grade and I have yet to take a year off because getting to be involved in all the different branches truly are the best part of my week. I feel prepared to take on the extra-work outside of my current role in senate, and I could not be more pumped for the opportunity!
