St. Olaf Habitat for Humanity is all about exactly what the name implies: helping every human a proper home! We are a campus chapter of the international organization Habitat for Humanity, and partner most often with the Rice County HFH Affiliate. Our campus chapter loves getting our hands on building the houses, but we also know that so much more goes into making a structure feel like home.

Most recently, we sent two teams of Oles on our annual Spring Break trips. This year, the trip locations included Manistique, Michigan and Fort Smith, Arkansas. The teams helped out Habitat for Humanity affiliates in each of the respective locations, building homes and working on renovations. In their free time away from the construction sites, both groups took the opportunity to explore by going for hikes along Lake Michigan’s shores or exploring Fort Smith!

Our spring break trips are definitely a highlight each year, but we also have plenty of opportunities for Oles to get involved on campus! April 3-10 is our Act! Speak! Build! Week where we try to raise awareness at St. Olaf about our club and what impact it has on homelessness. Look for our decorations and information in the hallway to the library.

If you are passionate about building, raising awareness about homelessness, or just want to know more about what we are about, please contact Caitlin Nelson (nelsocr@stolaf.edu), Kali Gustafson (gustaf@stolaf.edu), or Suzie Hoops (hoops@stolaf.edu) to join the alias. We would love to have you!
