Global Brigades is the largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization in the world. This parent organization serves and educates communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, and Ghana. Through a series of different projects, Global Brigades implements a holistic model rooted in creating self-sufficiency in these communities.

St. Olaf is thrilled to have a thriving and growing chapter of Global Brigades. Over the past five years St. Olaf students have helped over 2,500 patients and families receive care through Global Brigades. Each year, our organization expands and grows in size and areas of interest.

Students participating in St. Olaf Global Brigades recently returned home from traveling to Honduras and Panama over Interim Break. Those traveling to Honduras participated in the Medical/Dental or Public Health Brigades, and those traveling to Panama participated in the first-ever St. Olaf Business Brigade. On the Medical Brigade, students worked primarily in a rural Honduran mobile clinic and shadowed and assisted medical professions see over 750 patients. On the Public Health Brigade, students helped rural Honduran families sustainably improve their living conditions by working side-by-side with these family members on projects such as eco-stoves and cement floors. On the Business Brigade, students traveled to Panama and helped rural community members establish a sustainable business plan for their agricultural endeavors.
